- 6 large egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee cooled
- 1/2 cup coffee liqueur optional
- 1 package ladyfingers about 24
- Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
- Dark chocolate shavings optional
Prepare the Cream Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until pale and thick. Add the mascarpone cheese and mix until smooth.
Whip the Cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
Prepare the Coffee Mixture: Combine the brewed espresso and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish.
Assemble the Tiramisu: Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for a few seconds, ensuring they are well-soaked but not soggy. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish.
Layering: Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
