Zesty Cranberry-Jalapeno Relish
Cranberry sauce dates back to Native Americans, who introduced cranberries to settlers in the 1600s. The first cranberry sauce recipe appeared in Amelia Simmons' 1796 cookbook. It became a Thanksgiving staple in North America and Christmas favorite in the UK and Canada. 🍂✨
Ingredients
- 12 oz fresh whole cranberries
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 1 medium jalapeno de-seeded, deveined, finely diced
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 15 minutes or until most of the liquid has evaporated. Remove from heat and let it cool, allowing the sauce to thicken. Cover and chill until ready to serve.
